Guinness Is NJ’s ‘Favorite Beer’? Jersey Drinkers Beg to Differ
Beer experts have spoken and have revealed New Jersey's favorite beer for 2026, and I'm here to tell you that there's no way the beer that was selected can actually be Jersey's favorite beer.
Where New Jersey Ranks In Terms Of States That Love Beer

According to research done by Innerbody, New Jersey falls in the bottom half of beer-loving states in America; we ranked 34th out of 50th for beer-loving states. I'd like to think I help make up a large portion of our beer lovers; it's one of my favorite beverages!
According To Research, NJ's Favorite Beer Is... Guinness?
What I don't really agree with, though, is that Innerbody also states that New Jersey's beer of choice, our state's favorite, our go-to, is Guinness. Granted, I love a good Guinness, but to sit there and tell me this is New Jersey's favorite beer? I find it hard to believe.
Most NJ Beer Drinkers Would Disagree, We Have Too Much Local Pride'
Ask any beer drinker in New Jersey what their favorite beer is, and odds are you'll get an answer involving a local brewery. Jersey is a state that takes a lot of pride in propping up, supporting, and repping our local businesses, especially when that business makes the nectar of the Gods.
Some Local Breweries That Could Make NJ's Favorite Beer
Beers from Manafirken, Kane, Ludlam Bay, Cape May Brewing, and Icarus are all among the top tier of local breweries that most Jersey locals would put above a Guinness. You can even get micro-local, with places like Battle River Brewing and Little Dog Brewing fermenting up some big flavors, with a seriously local touch.
So while I don't disagree that Guinness may be a popular beer in Jersey, I find it hard to believe it's our state's favorite beer, just based on how much we love supporting our own local businesses. I mean, what tastes better? A Guinness, or a fresh Kane Head High on draft from B2 while you overlook the Barnegat Bay? It's an easy choice.
