An inmate is dead and his cellmate has been charged with homicide in Cumberland County.

According to the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office, on the afternoon of December 4th, 25-year-old Keyon Wade of North Brunswick NJ was found unresponsive in his cell at South Woods State Prison with apparent head trauma. Medical personnel attempted to treat Wade, however he was pronounced deceased.

Based on an investigation by the NJDOC-Special Investigation Division and the Major Crimes Unit of the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office, 34-year-old Anthony Cole of South Plainfield, who was Wade's cellmate, was charged with homicide Friday.

The Daily Journal reports Wade was incarcerated in April, 2017, for convictions stemming from crimes committed in 2015. His offenses included hindering apprehension, aggravated assault, gang criminality, and firearm possession. Cole was incarcerated in July, 2017, for attempted murder and weapon offenses; he was sentenced two years ago to a 20-year term for aggravated murder.
