How do you feel about assisted suicide in New Jersey? [POLL]
It's a controversial topic, assisted suicide, currently only California, Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon, Vermont, Washington and the District of Columbia permit doctor-assisted suicide. New Jersey is currently looking to be added to the list by allowing the "Death with Dignity" measure to become law.
On Monday in Trenton the Assembly passed the measure 41-33 and the Senate voted 21-16 in favor. The Bill now awaits Governor Murphy's signature to become law.
NJ.com reported that the law, if approved, would apply to New Jersey residents who have received a terminal diagnosis, defined as an incurable, irreversible and medically confirmed disease that will end the person’s life within six months. The legislation specifically says disabilities are not terminal illnesses.
