The land has been cleared out and soon it will be the home of an attractive new shopping center.

A very busy stretch of Hooper Avenue in the Silverton section of Toms River is about to get busier.
What was one of the last undeveloped sections of Hooper is getting prepped for a nearly 13,000-square-foot shopping center. The exact address is 1882 Hooper Avenue. It's next to Alpha Plaza and across from Speedway. It used to look like this.
The man who knows about all of the openings and closings, David P. Willis of APP is reporting that an Italian market specialty store (never a bad thing) and a cell phone operator are already in talks to be a part of the chic new retail center.
The big addition will actually be a relocation.
This has sort of become a mini landmark in Brick. Pizza Hut has been operating this location for a very long time. The Hut is making a move though.
The real estate firm responsible for this new Hooper Avenue shopping center says that Pizza Hut is closing its Brick location and moving south to Silverton for brand new digs.
There was a time that Pizza Hut was a fairly popular sitdown destination. Times have changed, and the new Pizza Hut will primarily focus on delivery and takeout.
What else do we have to look forward to in this new retail space? Developers tell David P. Willis that ideal tenants would include restaurants, bakeries, bagel shops, barbershops and salons, eyewear stores, fitness centers, pet care, and urgent care.
Frankly, we don't need any more of the above.
