My husband Tony and I wanted to get away for a fall weekend so we innocently booked an overnight stay at Jim Thorpe, PA. To say that I am certain we had an ghostly encounter would be an understatement.

Our hotel was from 1849 and it had stories to tell. Let's start with the doll shown above being in our closet...for some reason I feel like her name is Lucy.  Let's be real, with eyebrows like that you aren't in a good mood.  Did Lucy cause what happened to us at night? You decide...

Our visit started out nice enough...before Jim Thorpe, we went to one of my favorite places New Hope/Lambertville to meet some close friends for a bite to eat...it was so bright and happy we even saw double rainbows...was this something's way of preparing us for the darkness that was to come?

After dinner it was time to venture on...so we crossed the boarder to PA and we were ready for a romantic overnight stay at Jim Thorpe to see some fall color!

When we first arrived it was all about pleasant decorations, candle shops and such...

There was all kinds of history there...we even went into an old library and bought a book from 1871...it was sooo old and cool looking!

There was even a coal fired train that took you though the mountains...

The scenery was beautiful so we took a walk to soak in the color even though the chilly and ominous vibe started taking over...

Then as night crept in on us it did start to get a little spooky.  We walked through the part of town where locals got into the spirit and they had stories to tell about spirits that traveled from the hotels to the opera house as orbs caught on film. They embraced the reputation with open arms as you can tell from their yard...and balcony...

After a long day of sightseeing hopped into bed to go to sleep, mind you, when we un-packed and put our clothes away we found our girl "Lucy" (pictured above) in the closet.  Just to refresh your memory here she is again...

OK, just a toy...I jump into bed and fall asleep. At around 3am there is a loud crash in our bathroom. My husband goes up to see what it was and his electric toothbrush was on the floor in two pieces.  The head popped right off of it.  The toothbrush was placed on a shelf before we went to sleep. Why would it "slip" off the shelf and smash into two pieces on the floor?!?!

My husband, Tony says there must have been some moisture on the shelf creating that slide effect. I however feel that someone (or some doll) did not want us in the room. Luckily, we're heavy sleepers so we toughed it out BUT old number 55 can keep the doll. Not scared enough yet? Keep scrolling for the most horrifyingly haunted places in New Jersey:
