Harry Styles Reportedly Turned Down the Role of Prince Eric in ‘The Little Mermaid’
After rumors circulated of who will be playing the role of Prince Eric in Disney's live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, Harry Styles has reportedly turned down the role.
Styles has been rumored to be in talks to audition for the iconic role, and some sources even claimed that he was confirmed for the role. However, Variety and The Wrap have now reported that Styles politely passed on the role.
"While [Harry] is a fan of the project he has respectfully declined the offer," a source confirmed to E! News.
The rumor that he had in fact, confirmed to join the cast, even spread so far that Regal Cinemas and AMC Theatres shared the news on their social media accounts, on Tuesday (Aug. 13). The companies have since deleted the posts.
So far, the only confirmed actor to join the cast is Halle Bailey of Chloe X Halle. Bailey will be playing the role of the mermaid, herself!
"Ariel was one of my favorite princesses growing up, so it's a dream come true," she told ET in an interview. "I'm very excited and happy."
