Grocery Store Chain Recalling 1,000 Pounds of Chicken

Grocery store chain Wegmans is recalling more than 1,000 pounds of chicken after reportedly violating a health code.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture stated Tuesday that it issued a Class 1 recall, classified as a situation that has "a reasonable probability" that consuming the product will result in serious, adverse health consequences or even death.

The products are stamped with the code "EST or P-7567".

A federal inspector recently discovered The New York-based chain altered its production schedule and produced chicken products outside the approved hours of operation, 6abc.com reports. Those chicken products were never inspected.

That chicken was shipped to Wegmans stores in six states, including New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

There haven't yet been any confirmed reports of adverse reactions from that batch of chicken, but Wegmans is offering full refunds for eligible products.
