There is no doubt that when you think about driving, you think about New Jersey. But it might not be scenic driving you're talking about.

The kind of driving we do here in the Garden State is purposeful. It's tense. And it's a little bit rude. If you start talking about things like peaceful or scenic, you must be talking about somewhere else.

Well, it turns out that one of the most scenic drives in all of the United States is right here in New Jersey. I couldn't believe it either.

But it turns out Love Exploring has named a stretch of Garden State road "A Scenic Drive To Take This Year".

The stretch of road and this should come as no surprise to you, is a considerable distance from most of us. if you're a skier, you probably know it well.

The road the website highlights as "one of the best viewpoints in New Jersey" is the Western Highlands Scenic Byway. it's in northeastern Sussex County, in other words just about as far from the rest of New Jersey as you can get.

And it really is beautiful. And for those who have driven the road before, it's been a pretty breathtaking experience.

It's just hard for most of us to imagine the words 'beautiful and 'driving' in the same sentence. Beautiful driving to most of us means making two green lights in a row on any given day.

And the most scenic thing we see is an open parking spot in the Wegman's parking lot.
