Some proud New Jersey Firefighters became proud superheroes yesterday afternoon on the Garden State Parkway.

Two volunteer firefighters rescued a Mother and her child from a burning mini-van.  The accident occurred shortly after 11AM yesterday near exit 74 in Lacey Township.

According to the Asbury Press:

Authorities say Pat O'Donnell, lieutenant and president of the Beach Haven Fire Department, was southbound on the parkway when he saw smoke coming from the minivan.

Working with a firefighter from the Lanoka Harbor Volunteer Fire Department, they used fire extinguishers to bring the fire under control.

The Lanoka Harbor firefighter was then able to undo the child's car seat and get the baby out of the vehicle.

While the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, the best part of this story is recognizing our heroes.  The name of the other volunteer firefighter wasn't released yet, but I'm sure it soon will be.
