Investigation Launched After Hospital Staff Allegedly Asked Ed Sheeran for Photos
Hospital staff in Suffolk, England were in hot water last year after it was reported that some members of the team asked Ed Sheeran for autographs and photos when the artist was treated for a broken arm.
In October 2017, Sheeran was admitted to Ipswick Hospital for treatment on his right wrist and left elbow, which were fractured during a cycling accident on October 16 and resulted in the cancellation of several Asian tour dates. While at the facility, BBC reports that several staff members asked to take photos with the pop star, as well as requested autographs.
The following month, a spokesperson announced that the hospital had underwent an internal review of care concerning "high-profile patients."
"Confidentiality, privacy of the patient and their loved ones and practical considerations" were covered during the review.
Sheeran initially announced the injury on Instagram, where he shared a photo of his bandaged arm and wrote, "A visit to my doctors confirmed fractures in my right wrist and left elbow that will leave me unable to perform live concerts for the immediate future. I’m waiting to see how the healing progresses. Please stay tuned for more details. PS – Ed isn’t typing this as he has both arms casted/ bandaged."
