The man behind the beloved local cover band Don't Call Me Francis has passed away.

The voice of Frank Orsini, a Pennsauken High School grad and marching band member, was silenced today after a long battle with cancer. Friends and family say he was moved to hospice just days ago.

From Sinatra to Outcast, Frank's 9-piece band Don't Call Me Francis entertained thousands of clubgoers and wedding parties over the last 30 years, amassing legions of fans in Philadelphia and New Jersey. Osini was the band's lead singer and trumpeter.

I spent many a night dancing into the wee hours at places like Boogie Nights in Atlantic City to the sounds of Don't Call Me Francis. They always put on a consistently amazing show and guaranteed good time. No word on if the rest of the group plans to go on without him, but Frank will surely be missed.
