Buena Regional High School has been closed for in-person learning after an elevated number of COVID positive cases linked to the high school over the past few weeks, according to  a notification from Superintendent David Cappuccio Jr.

Students will be learning remotely until their spring break begins later this week and then returning to in-person learning on April 12.

According to the Facebook post from the school district, all administration and staff will continue to report to school following their normal schedules

Parents and high school students may access detailed information regarding the remote learning plan on the Buena High School website.

Superintendent Cappuccio's message says that the Atlantic County Department of Health was contacted for consultation prior to the decision to move to all-remote learning, and the district will continue to work with the health department to ensure the health and safety of all staff and students.

Although Covid data does not show a marked increase in COVID infections in Buena Vista, there has been a 37% increase in new infections statewide, making New Jersey the number one state in the nation for new COVID-19 infections per capita.

The change to remote learning at the high school comes as Buena Regional School District is surveying parents of students who are currently fully remote to see if they are interested in having their child return to school for four, full days of in-person instruction beginning Monday, April 19th, according to a message to parents on the school district's website.
