Authorities in Cape May County say a man from Cape May has been arrested and is now facing cyber harassment charges.

Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland and Lower Township Police Chief William Priole say 27-year-old John Abadie was arrested on multiple counts of cyber harassment, a fourth-degree crime.

Sutherland says the arrest comes after a joint investigation started when, "multiple victims came forward and stated that they were a victim of a cyber crime as altered pictures of them were posted on a website, without their permission."

The Cape May County Prosecutor's Office says those charged with a fourth-degree crime, like Abadie, face up to one year in jail.

Anyone with additional information about these crimes, or if you believe you may have been the victim of such an act, is urged to contact the prosecutor's office at (609) 465-1135 or the Lower Township Police Department at (609) 886-1619. Information can also be shared with law enforcement anonymously through the Cape May County Sheriff Department's website.
