Bruno Mars Donates $1 Million to Flint Water Crisis Victims
Bruno Mars surprised the audience at his Auburn Hills, Michigan show last night (Saturday, August 12) by announcing a donation of $1 million for the victims of the ongoing Flint water crisis.
"I'm very thankful to the Michigan audience for joining me in supporting this cause. Ongoing challenges remain years later for Flint residents, and it's important that we don't forget our brothers and sisters affected by this disaster," the artist said in a statement.
"As people, especially as Americans, we need to stand together to make sure something like this never happens in any community ever again," Mars continued.
The donation will be taken from proceeds of Mars' show at the Palace of Auburn Hills and will go to The Community Foundation of Greater Flint in order to provide relief for those affected.
Hopefully, this will prove to be a reminder that the crisis in Flint is still ongoing and that many are still lacking safe, drinkable water.
