With friends like these, who needs enemies.

Raymond Mullen, of Brigantine, sat in a hospital bed trying to rationalize that his own friends set him on fire.

In what police say was a practical joke gone horribly wrong, Mullen awoke to find his body on fire on March 15 after falling asleep on friend David Sult's sofa in Mays Landing. As Mullen ran outside, two friends chased after him throwing lighter fluid on him, according to NJ.com.

Mullen suffered burns third degree burns over 30 percent of his body. He also has required several skin grafts and blood transfusions.

24-year-old Sult and 23-year-old Brandon Perez, of Hammonton, have been charged with aggravated arson, aggravated assault and conspiracy.
