Breast Cancer Survivors Receive Tattoos in Mount Laurel, N.J.
On Wednesday, breast cancer survivors received complimentary areola tattoos as part of "The Beau National Day of Hope" in Mount Laurel, N.J. This has become a special final step for women completing their journey after breast cancer.
Rose Marie Beauchemin, the Founder of the Beau Institute of Permanent and Corrective Cosmetics, says women are left feeling undone after going through chemotherapy and radiation. With this procedure, women are left feeling feminine again, and back to how they were before their battle. Tattooed areola restore a more physical attribute to their breasts.
So, for the institute's 5th Anniversary Day of Hope, breast cancer survivors received free areola tattoos for those who have undergone breast reconstruction surgery. Keep in mind a procedure like this can cost between $800-$1000 and is rarely covered by insurance.
The Beau Institute of Permanent and Corrective Cosmetics have been performing this service for 26 years, and completely for free. They consider it the most rewarding part of their profession to be able to help these women. With their complimentary tattoos, Beuchemin hopes practitioners will begin to do the same.
