New Jersey’s Governor Phil Murphy just announced plans to sign an executive order which will lift the state’s stay at Home Order. The order first went into effect on March 21.

This does not appear to impact the phased reopening of the state's business sector, which has already been announced. For example, hair salons will not be permitted to reopen before their previously announced date of June 22.

The state has lifted the restriction on indoor gatherings. A gathering of up to 50 persons or up to 25% of the building’s capacity is now allowed, whichever number is lower.

Outdoor gatherings can now be held with as many as 100 people. This is an increase from the previous limit if 25, the governor says.

Plus, the governor anticipates that number to increase to 500 by July 3.

Murphy is allowing all outdoor recreational and outdoor entertainment businesses that were previously closed to reopen. However, this EXCLUDES  amusement parks, water parks, and arcades, for the time being, he says.

Citing a positive trend in the data, state officials continue to urge residents to remain vigilant and to practice social distancing whenever possible.

This is a developing story. We’ll have more details shortly.
