I say it every year -- there's a ton of fun to be had at the Atlantic County 4H Fair.

Well, almost every year given the fact that COVID-19 put a damper on last year's festivities, but the fair was back this year and it was absolutely terrific.

You name it -- rides, games, delicious food, performances, local vendors, and more were all at the 71st Atlantic County 4H Fair on Friday and Saturday, August 6th and 7th, on Route 50 in South Egg Harbor. And by "more," I mean pie-eating contests, baby parades, and a classic car show, too.

In terms of family-friendly events in our region, this one is right at the top of my list. And if your kids are like my daughter, she left the fair wanting practically every animal that was on display.

Beautiful sunflower fields to visit in NJ 2021

Among reasons why the “Garden State” remains a fitting nickname for New Jersey — late summer means the arrival of sunflower season.

There are at least six fields, spanning the state. Some are in bloom as of early August, while others are planned to peak from late August to late September.
