Atlantic City’s Borgata Will Be First to Take Sports Bets Starting Thursday
Starting Thursday morning at 11 a.m., the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City will be taking bets on sporting events.
Gov. Murphy officially signed the sports bill into law earlier this week on Monday. The 11 a.m. start time comes 30 minutes after Gov. Phil Murphy made the state's first bet at Monmouth Park racetrack.
A long talked about bill that was in the making, last month the state won a U.S. Supreme Court case that gave the go-ahead to other states the choice to offer legal sports betting.
The other casinos in Atlantic City have not yet revealed any of their sports betting plans save for the Golden Nugget. The Nugget plans to roll out their sports betting in September right in time for Football season.
Many hope this is yet another step in the right direction of an Atlantic City revival.
