Angelina Jolie Officially Drops Brad Pitt’s Last Name Amid Divorce
It's official: Angelina Jolie is no longer a "Pitt."
The actress legally dropped estranged husband Brad Pitt's last name as divorce proceedings continue to unfold. Jolie had added Pitt to her surname following the couple's marriage in August 2014, but now it looks like she's ready to completely move on. The news comes less than one week after a judge ruled the pair's marriage was officially over, restoring their relationship status to single as they continue to work on custody and settlement agreements. In other words, their divorce has been not finalized just yet, but they're officially legally single.
Pitt and Jolie split in September 2016 after two years of marriage and 12 years as a couple. Their decision to divorce shocked everyone, but nothing was as messy as their fight to gain custody over their children Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne. It's still going on and they still haven't come to an agreement.
However, Entertainment Tonight reports Pitt and Jolie's relationship is "the best it's been since their split," with a source revealing things between them are good now and their main focus is co-parenting their six children. "Their kids have a custody schedule and that's made a huge difference for the whole family," the insider explained. "The schedule has alleviated any of the planning pressures Brad and Angelina have faced in the past. Now the kids spend time with both their parents and are happy and thriving."
