
Amber Alert: Toddler Found Safe
UPDATE: According to the New Jersey State Police, the child and suspect have been located in Paterson. The child is safe.
New Jersey State Police have issued an Amber Alert for a missing 1-year-old toddler they say was taken by his father in Passaic.
Police said Tomas Q. Quiles assaulted the mother of the boy, Tyrus, just before 2 p.m. at a bus stop on Passaic Street and then took the child. After leaving the scene on foot he sent a text message threatening suicide, they said.
Quiles has a restraining order out on him.
He is described as 5 foot 9 inches tall weighing 190 pounds wearing a black jacket, grey hooded sweatshirt and black jeans.
The toddler is described as a Hispanic male, 33 inches tall, weighing 27 pounds and wearing a red/white/black flannel hood coat and a hooded sweatshirt, grey sweatpants, brown shoes and a penguin winter hat.
Anyone seeing the pair should call 911.
