Sure, we have our pick of beaches here in South Jersey, but sometimes it's good to expand your horizons...you never know WHAT you'll find!

Check out some of these beautifully colorful beaches you have to see to believe!

1. Papakolea Beach - Hawai'i (Big Island)

This green sand beach is one of only four of its kind in the world! The sand is made from a mineral called olivine which erodes from surrounding lava rocks. (You might better know olivine in its gemstone form, peridot.)

2. Horseshoe Bay or Elbow Beach - Bermuda

Head to Bermuda and spend some time on gorgeous, powdery pink sand beaches! The sand is made up of broken coral and shells which give that rosy color.

3. Punaluu Beach - Hawaii (Big Island)

Hawaii's Big Island is home to another unique beach, this one full of black sand! The sand is made up of basalt -- basically just eroded lava rock. There is something strangely inviting about the dark sand (and it's a great spot to see sea turtles!)

4. Clearwater Beach - Florida

The Gulf Coast of Florida is home to some of the most pristine white sand in the world, and is mostly made of pure quartz. The sand is also so fine that you might get confused about whether you're walking on sand or baby powder!

5. Pfeiffer Beach - California

This beach can be found along Cali's central coast, within the stretch known as Big Sur. It might not be the easiest to find, but it'll be totally worth it when you get there! Here you'll find beautiful purple sand swirled along the beach, courtesy of a mineral called manganese garnet. Depending on recent weather and the way the sun hits it, it can look green or pink, too!

Already have a getaway in mind? Consider flying out of Atlantic City Airport! It's so convenient from everywhere in South Jersey, you'll be in vacation mode in no time!
