It was reported yesterday that a woman had drowned in the ocean on an unguarded Atlantic City beach, that tragedy has now become a miracle.

A woman from New Hampshire was pulled unconscious from the ocean off South Carolina Avenue at about 7 pm Monday, and firefighters were told that she had died.  The woman had been found face down in the water.

Beach patrol chief Rod Aluise told The Press of Atlantic City 'The people who were there said the woman was as dead as anyone they'd ever seen.'  The rescue squad worked hard to come to her rescue and resuscitate her.  They were later told that she had died.

After twenty-four hours of wondering what they could have done differently, the rescue team and fire department learned that she was indeed alive.  In fact, she is currently in the Intensive Care Unit at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus. Her exact condition has not been released.

The name of the woman is not being released at this time.
