It's not every day I get to report on a gaggle of wild turkeys, but I will certainly take this opportunity. One unlucky New Jersey mail carrier found himself trapped Thursday when the birds banded together and surrounded his truck.

The postal worker reached out to his post master who then phoned Hillsdale police just after noon, reporting that the mail carrier was essentially a hostage in his own mail truck on Esplanade Drive because of the birds, according to 6abc.com.

Officers arrived a short time later and scared the turkeys away into a wooded area.

The U.S. Postal Service issued an official statement calling the incident, which interrupted mail delivery to a few residents, 'an attack'.

The carrier was not injured. No word on whether the birds were revolting on behalf of Thanksgiving turkeys all over the world, or if they'd recently read any George Orwell novels.
