Concert films have been a popular trend for a while now, and should not surprise you that One Direction is jumping on the bandwagon, but filmmaker Morgan Spurlock producing and directing may.

Morgan Spurlock in well known for his work in the documentary film genre.  He has looked into brand advertising and product placement (The Greatest Movie Ever Sold in 2011), the relation of human nature and economics (Freakonomics in 2010), looked deeper into the war on terror (Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden? in 2008), and earned an Oscar nomination for his looked into the fast food industry (Super Size Me in 2004).

With this resume, who would not think that a band like One Direction would catch his interest in any way, but Spurlock has been quoted recently about this project: "This is an incredible opportunity and an amazing moment in time for the band - to capture this journey and share it with audiences around the world will be an epic undertaking that I am proud to be a part of".

The X-Factor judge and co-creator Simon Cowell, who is responsible for bringing One Direction into existence on the X-Factor UK, feels that Spurlock will make this film "interesting", and that "he was such of fan of doing it".

The 3-D concert film will bring fans of the band an intimate inside look at their worldwide popularity.

This project does not fit Spurlock's resume choices, but the fact is that if done right this film will score big money at the box office worldwide, and should create a nice paycheck for the 42-yr-old filmmaker.  Expect this project to out worldwide by August 2013.
This seems so far removed from his exposure of fast food and health risks from constant eating.  Remember?
