Crash test video shows that children should not wear puffy winter coats in the car because you may not be securely fastening them in.

Wearing a puffy coat in the car stops you from tightening the straps as much as you should. The reason is because there is a gap between your child and the safety strap, so although it may feel tight, it may actually be loose.

To test out this theory, a crash test video was conducted to see just how a puffy jacket can be dangerous in a car crash. Watch the video below:

According to The Car Seat Lady, you should take your child's coat off or unzipped when they get into the car. Then to warm your child up, place the coat backwards OR place a warm blanket over them.
