Ventnor Police Officer Attacked by K-9 Dog Partner

A Ventnor, New Jersey police officer is recovering today after being attacked by her own K-9 dog partner.
Officer Jamie Pirchio sustained injuries to her legs, arms and hands that required her to undergo surgery, 6abc.com reports..

Pirchio was allegedly attempting to feed Niko the K-9 at her home in Northfield when got startled, prompting the attack.

Pirchio was able to re-cage Niko before approaching a neighbor for help.

Ventnor Police say Niko will remain kenneled until officials determine is safe to return to active duty.
