Less than 24 hours since video surfaced of Rutgers basketball coach Mike Rice hurling homophobic slurs at his players, he has been fired.

Speaking to WABC Rice says of physically and verbally abusing his players:

“I want to tell everybody who believed me in that I’m deeply sorry for the pain and hardship I’ve caused. Thank you very much.”

Rice was initially suspended for three games and fined by Athletic Director Tim Pernetti last December, a decision that came under fire when this week ESPN's 'Outside the Lines' obtained and aired video of Rice’s practices.
