A gasoline prank gone wrong led to a drug arrest in Wildwood over the weekend.

Apparently on Sunday, 19-year-old Austin Gaile thought it would be a good idea to pretend to light himself on fire in an elevator inside the Isle of Palms Motel. While inside the elevator, he poured water over himself and tried to ignite it with a lighter.

There were 8 people inside the elevator, two of them were 3-years-old. Just imagine how shaken up they were watching a young man attempt to set himself on fire...IN AN ELEVATOR.

Police were called to the scene and reportedly found marijuana and drug paraphernalia on Gaile.

According to NBC10, this was all done for a prank that was going to be put on social media.

Well thanks to this prank, Gaile is facing the following charges:

  1. false public alarm
  2. endangering the welfare of a child
  3. possession of a controlled dangerous substance/marijuana under 50 grams
  4. possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia

Seriously, Gaile was it worth it? Now he's sitting in the Cape May County Correctional Center unable to post $90,000.
