We all know the obvious: The ice scraper. But there are a handful of other essentials you'll want to stock in your vehicle for the next snow storm.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration suggest keeping the following items with you during winter months:

  • bottled water
  • calorie-dense, nonperishable foods, such as protein bars
  • warm blankets
  • extra set of dry clothes (just in case)

NOAA reports that twenty-five percent of winter-related fatalities happen when people are caught unprepared out in a storm.

I like to keep an aluminum-foil type self-heating body wrap in my trunk, as well as some squeeze fruit pouches, and even an extra dose of medication in case of an emergency.

Stay safe!
