If you're reading this right now, chances are you have one of the three most popular last names in the Garden State.

According to a recent survey by Ancestry.com, who've become the authority on individual origins, there are more people in New Jersey with the surname Smith than any other. The folks at Ancestry used a pretty archaic source to compile their numbers: they looked in the White Pages.

The same goes for Pennsylvania and Delaware, where Smiths reign supreme. Sounds about right! I have friends in South Jersey that became a 'Smith' through marriage, and family Bear, Delaware that are Smiths!

Closely following Smith in NJ are the last names Williams and Johnson.
