This Friday night's episode of 20/20 on ABC will break down the murder of South Jersey radio host April Kauffman, her doctor husband's involvement, and her daughter's plight to bring April's killer to justice.

It was the case the rocked the Linwood community in Atlantic County and, almost too twisted to believe, gained national attention. But the details surrounding this murder-for-hire were all too true. April Kauffman, also a local advocate for veterans, was shot in her home on May 10th 2012. Under mounting police evidence, her husband, 69-year-old Dr. James Kauffman, a prominent endocrinologist, was eventually charged with plotting her killing. The murder was allegedly committed to cover up an opioid-distribution ring involving members of the Pagans motorcycle gang. Dr. Kauffman would go on to take his own life in jail while awaiting trial.

Francis Mullholland, the man who agreed to kill April Kauffman, was reportedly driven to the home, where the doors were left unlocked, and shot her two times, according to Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. Mulholland died of a drug overdose in 2013. Seven others have reportedly been indicted in connection with April's murder, NJ.com reports.

April Kauffman reportedly threatened to expose her husband's illegal drug operation when he refused to grant her divorce.

The ABC News special airing Friday night at 10 p.m., features daughter Kimberly Pack and her mission to expose the truth about her mother's slaying and the secrets in her family.

20/20 airs locally on 6abc.
