The Dark Side of The Heart on “The Playlist” This Week

A week after Valentine's Day, hopefully all went well in the department of love, and that the Heart felt fulfilled from your loved one's efforts on a day that your florist and the greeting card companies are counting their profits (and I know I contributed to their cause with my girlfriend).  Now on the other side, you may have been a Lonely Heart, feeling black inside, breaking from the pain of the past.  The Heart gets a 2nd look this week on "The Playlist".

“The Playlist” Salutes Valentine’s Day With Songs Of The Heart

Valentine's Day is a day where your special someone is reminded just what they mean to you, although you should be doing that in some way every day.  This is the day where A Rose By Any Other Name ....................... cost 4 times as much as it will tomorrow.  We all fall victim of this day, where the heart takes center stage - inside and outside.  This version of "The Playlist" sautes the Heart in all of its loving way (which musically is not easy).

“The Playlist” Salutes Sunday’s Big Game and The Champions

The New York Giants are the champions of the NFL, and the city has been nicknamed by NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg as "The Big Blue Apple".  Over 1 Million people have found their way to the ticker-tape parade for the team's 4th championship.  This week's version of "The Playlist", we salute everything (in one way or another) that is a part of  Super ............ I mean to say Sunday's "Big Game".

“The Playlist” Goes Hollywood To Name-Check The A-List

Hollywood has had a great deal of attention over the 1st month of 2012, with numerous award shows saluting the best in film and TV, and inching closer to the biggest prize for any actor - the Academy Award.  This week's version of "The Playlist" attempts to come up with a set of music that name-check those stars who you know and still have some relevance.

“The Playlist” Asks Whether Or Not These Singers Can Act

Last week's version of "The Playlist" showed that some actors can sing, or found a little luck on the way toward scoring success carrying a tune.  This story is as old as Hollywood - actors want to sing and singers want to act.  Many singers who have success take to the path of maximizing their career by putting themselves on TV or the Big Screen.  Well this week we look at those successful voices and see if they have held up well in the acting world, and we look carefully at their work as thespians in this week's edition of The Playlist.

“The Playlist” Salutes Those Actors Who Can Sing?!?!

Hollywood is in the midst of their award season as they countdown to the Academy Awards.  The world is waiting to see who will bring home the gold, and who might be next to try and moonlight as a singer.  We see this a great deal in "La La Land" - become successful, then indulge a passion and see if you can use this success to become a "Pop Star".  Many have failed, but you may be surprised to see who did score with this side gig.  Welcome to this week's version of "The Playlist".

Giving You Things Surrounding A Typical Winter With “The Playlist”

So far this winter season has been surprisingly mild, as temperatures have been more toward the 50s during the day than the 30s.  Many may not complain about this, especially after the past few winters having been brutal with record amounts of snow.  The only snow so far has been an unexpected dusting we had recently, which would be fine by me but maybe not for you.  Time to highlight those things that are about the typical January Winter with this week's version of The Playlist.

Holiday Wishes On “The Playlist” – All The Things We Want Musically (Hopefully)

Every year we always have "wishes" for the holiday season - The Gift we really wanted, the loved ones we need, the special someone under the mistletoe, Peace On Earth, a White Christmas, just getting to the holidays mostly unscathed, and the resolutions we hope to accomplish for the new year.  The last version for "The Playlist" this holiday season will be to make those wishes stand out musically (hopefully).

The Characters of The Season Are Saluted on “The Playlist”

Last week on "The Playlist" we saluted Santa Claus musically, but this season has so many other characters that make up this December stretch.  No doubt that Santa is the shining star, but think about all those other players that make up your holiday TV watching special.  Then there are those songs that are truly characters in their own right - bringing you a smile and joy with their wit.  Don't forget those characters that are forever linked to Xmas despite no real holiday tie.  This is where we dare to tread musically this week with "The Playlist".

“Santa” Gets Spotlighted This Week on “The Playlist”

The countdown to Christmas has begun, the nip in the air that has been missing for the most part is coming, the shopping is continuing, and the North Pole is all a buzz with the "Jolly Fat Man" getting ready for his marathon to get gifts to all the good girls and boys.  You don't Believe?  Maybe a bunch of songs that has Santa written into them will make you feel less of a Scrooge.  Welcome to this week's festive  version of "The Playlist".

A Thanksgiving Classic is Saluted (Somewhat) This Week in “The Playlist”

This year's Thanksgiving saw my girlfriend survive the over-cooking marathon that has seen myself gain at least 10 pounds (with a big smile on my face), a 7-lb. smoked turkey that needed more than the recommended 4 hrs (I screwed that up), a stuffing recipe that was new and delicious (but was aggravating for my head chef), and we still have leftovers, but something was missing from the experience - Planes, Trains and Automobiles!
