The new speed limit takes into effect immediately.

Police have officially announced on Wednesday that the speed limit of Salina Road (which is County House Road) has been lowered to 35 mph in Gloucester Township.

There are already new speed limit signs that have been set up notifying drivers and roadside message boards that have been put up just as an extra precaution.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says that speeding is one of the biggest contributing factors when it comes to traffic accidents. Up to 27 percent of people killed in fatal accidents were speeding.
