A south Jersey town mourns the death of an 11-year-old boy in an ATV accident on Tuesday.Russell Anthony Leone was riding on Oakgrove Road late in the afternoon with an 8th grade old girl as they  pulled a sled with two seventh grade girls when they hit the truck which had a snow plow attached.

The father of the fifth-grade student at Logan Elementary School, Russell D. Leone, told the Times that his son played the piano and was a wrestler for Kingsway Junior Wrestling. "His time was cut short," he told the South Jersey Times.

Police say the ATV came onto the road which leads to an asphalt plant from a field, possibly from behind a row of trees.

Leone, and the girl were taken to Crozer Chester Medical Center in Chester County, Pennsylvania. The girl on the ATV  remains hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries while the girls on the sled were not injured. None were wearing a helmet.

The driver of the truck, Michael McCann, 46, of Bridgeton, not hurt and has not been charged by Logan Police.

Logan Township Police Chief James Schmidt tells the South Jersey Times the ATV belonged to Russell's parents. Schmidt says this is the first accident involving an ATV he can recall in the town.

Grief counselors were on hand at both Logan Elementary School and Center Square School where the four involved attended classes.

From a district’s perspective, the school district is saddened by the loss of one of our students,” Logan Township School Board President Francis Donnelly told the Times. “Our job right now is not to figure out what happened but to support the friends and family of the victim.”
