South Jersey Parents Turn Graffiti On Their Home Into Something Positive
A local teenager came home to graffiti sprayed on her home with the words 'I'm Gay'.
Seventeen-year old Miranda DeLong of Lower Township came home from work to find the anti-gay words. Both her and her sister are bi-sexual. Similar vandalism was found on the family's truck as well. Miranda's parents filed a Police report, and after everything was cleaned off, they decided to turn something negative into a positive.
The family repainted their garage with bright colors from the rainbow. The rainbow of course is symbolic for gay pride. Here is what the garage originally looked like:
According to The Press of Atlantic City:
DeLong said she and her husband supported their children’s honesty and candor about their sexuality. Their son, Joey, 9, occasionally gets teased by other children because of his sisters, she said. And some kids last week taunted him, calling him gay for living in “the gay house.”
“Uh, it doesn’t work that way,” DeLong said.
“We were really positive about it. It doesn’t change who they are as people. They’re good kids,” she said. “We have three healthy, happy, well-adjusted kids. Why have kids if you’re not going to love them for who they are?'
