A Burlington County teenager was arrested for spitting on a police officer and spent the night in jail Monday after her mom refused to bail her out in an effort to teach her a lesson, the Burlington County Times reports.

Danielle Solomon, 18, of Maple Shade was charged with aggravated assault in the incident and appeared before a Superior Court judge in Mount Holly on Tuesday where her bail was lowered from $5,000 to $1,000.

Her mother Linda told the Burlington County Times that she initially refused to pay her daughter's bail on Monday but planned to pay it after it was lowered the following day.

"I think that if a lot of parents would just let the punishments be what they are these kids would be smacked into reality that it's an adult world and it's not fun and games anymore," she told the Times.
