A prominent South Jersey attorney who specializes in elder-law has been sentenced to cheating her clients out of millions of dollars.

The Associated Press, citing the Press of Atlantic City, says Northfield's Barbara Lieberman received a 10-year sentence for her crimes. She is also ordered to forfeit $3 million that the state seized from her and pay another $1.4 million in taxes, penalties and other fees.

The well-known 63-year-old attorney also surrendered her law license.

Court documents show Lieberman defrauded clients out of millions of dollars and laundered the money through several bank accounts.

In total, 17 victims were named, scammed out of nearly $3.9 million. The money was allegedly split between Lieberman and four other people who have all been indicted in the case as well.
