There is joy in Ocean City for 17-yr-old Tess Solazzo, while sadness comes upon Galloway over the last 24 hours.  Joy and pain over our area in South Jersey Sports Shorts for today.

The Press of Atlantic City has reported that Solazzo will take her considerable Lacrosse talent to Columbus, as the Ocean City High School junior has accepted a partial scholarship to attend and play for Ohio State.  Currently the Buckeyes are a Top-15 ranked women's lacrosse team nationally, and Solazzo should improve the Big Ten school's program in the not-so-distant future.

A 3-sport standout, Solazzo has thrived in lacrosse with 128 career goals and 83 career assists.  The Red Raiders of O. City H.S. were the Cape-Atlantic League co-champions with Millville, thanks in great part to Solazzo.

The news in Galloway last was not as cheerful.  NBC 40's Michelle Dawn Mooney reported on the passing of Junious Glover.  "Coach June" would have been 32 yesterday, and was a popular coach for football and wrestling in Galloway Township.

We hear at SoJO mourn the communities loss, and send our respect to Glover's family.  Coach leaves behind his wife and 4 children.
