A press conference scheduled for noon at West New York City Hall has been cancelled.

Attorney Joseph Ginarte says it’s a very difficult time for the family and “you can imagine what they are going through.” He declined further comment.

Alina Tsarnaev has been talking with the office of West New York Mayor Felix Roque since the media descended upon her West New York residence as law enforcement began a manhunt for brother Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on Friday. Alina’s brother Bella is also at the apartment.

“They are in the grieving process. They want to set the record straight with the community, the country, and the world,” Roque told the Jersey Journal.

Their statement needs to be made from a secure location according to Roque. Police have been outside her Buchanan Place apartment since Friday. They also don’t want to show their faces & bodies if they speak according to the Bergen Record.

“You never know how many nuts out there … At the end of the day, these people (Alina and her immediate family living in West New York) are not guilty of doing anything. They have been very cooperative with the law enforcement agencies,” Roque explained to the Jersey Journal.

This afternoon marks one week since two bombs went off at the Boston Marathon, killing three people and wounding more than 180.

There’ll be a moment of silence today at 2:50 p.m., the time the first bomb exploded.

Meanwhile, authorities are waiting to question the widow of bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who was killed Friday while trying to get away from police.

His 19-year-old brother Dzhokhar was shot in the throat and can’t speak and remains at a Boston hospital. He is answering some questions by writing down his answers according to WCVB TV.

Authorities waiting to question bombing suspect widow

An attorney for the widow of one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects says she didn’t know her husband was a suspect until she saw it on TV.

The attorney says Katherine Tsarnaev worked up to 80 hours a week as a home healthcare aide and Tamerlan Tsarnaev stayed home to take care of their toddler daughter.

Authorities haven’t yet been able to question the widow.
