The Coast Guard has suspended its search for boaters who were reported missing off the coast of Brigantine on Friday evening.

CBS Philly reports, that a call came in Friday evening that three to four people were spotted in the water. But when the Coast Guard went out to search, they didn't seem to find anyone.

After searching for almost an entire day, no sign of a vessel or the boaters was found. CBS Philly reports that it was a full-out search involving boat crews, a helicopter, and a 87-foot cutter. But it was officially called off on Saturday.

Coast Guard Chief Nick Ameen suspects it might be a hoax, but the situation is still being taken very seriously in case something does pop up.
