Authorities responded to a call after a man was struck by a wave and was incapacitated floating in the ocean.

A report from NJ.com says that in Seaside Heights three officers along with water rescue units entered the water and retrieved the man, all the while going up against strong rip currents.

CPR was performed was but pronounced dead at the scene. No information on the man has been released save for the fact he was 44 and from New Brunswick.

The wave from the rough waters might have broken the man's neck, explains Police Chief Tommy Boyd.
