The summer solstice finally arrives tonight at 6:34 PM. This also means that today will be the longest day of the year in 2016. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing...

According to the Washington Post, the last time we had this combination of a summer solstice and a rare full strawberry moon was in the summer of 1967! The next time this happens won't be until the summer of 2062. Basically, we'll have to wait 46 summers before this happens again. The moon will be fully illuminated at 8:41 PM tonight.

The rare full strawberry moon was named by the Algonquin tribes. The tribes would signal to one another that it was time to gather ripening fruit according to the Old Farmers Almanac.
