Racist Tweets Flow After the Crowning of Miss America

Your new Miss America is Miss New York, Nina Davuluri!  She’s the first woman of Indian descent to win the tiara, and some people unfortunately have a problem with that….

From Twitter:

“If you’re #Miss America you should have to be American,” said one.

“WHEN WILL A WHITE WOMAN WIN #MISSAMERICA? Ever??!!” screamed another.

Miss America? You mean Miss 7-11.

9/11 was 4 days ago and she gets miss America?

(CNN)

Never mind the fact that Miss New York won the crown for the second year in a row.   Never mind the fact that Nina is an American, just of Indian descent (and the first Miss America of Indian descent as well)

Look, I have no problem hearing you thought should have won.  Many of you have already commented on our Facebook fan page, and believe that Miss Kansas should have won.  That’s OK, you’re entitled to your own opinion.  Like every other form of competition, you can agree or disagree with the winner.

Nina Davuluri met all of the qualifications to compete in the Miss New York pageant, and she won.  She met all of the qualifications to compete in the Miss America pageant, and she won.

Blast all you want if you disagree with the decision, just be an adult and leave the race issue out of it.

That’s my one ‘soap box rant’ for the month…………..Morgan Out!
