A group of thieves known as Felony Lane Gang has already committed a slew of 'smash and grab' crimes.

The gang is not limited to Washington Twp., having gained notoriety in Florida where it reportedly originated, and up and down the east coast, according to 6abc.com.

Washington Township Police Chief Patrick Gurcsik tells 6abc.com that car break-ins tied to the Felony Lane Gang have already occurred at area daycare facilities, school parking lots, shopping centers, gyms, and most recently, Washington Lake Park in Sewell. Just this past Sunday afternoon, a woman reported her vehicle's window was smashed and her purse stolen.

Police say the bandits seek out those kind of quick theft opportunities, attracted to personal belongings, like handbags and wallets, for the purposes of committing identity theft.

So, even if you're just running into the pharmacy or convenience store, take valuables like your cell phone and wallet with you so your vehicle won't look as appetizing to this gang and other copycat thieves.
