A Philadelphia funeral director is facing charges after police found rotting bodies in a garage near her funeral home.

Janet Powell-Dailey, 72, has been charged with 'Abuse of a Corpse and Theft' following an investigation that started this summer after a foul smell was coming out of the garage. Neighbors were concerned of the smell coming down W. Hagert Street and notified Philadelphia Police.

Police discovered that Powell-Dailey's funeral home had been closed for a year, but she still accepted bodies from the mourning families. According to reports, one of the bodies found was in a coffin while others were held in cardboard boxes.

As of now, Janet Powell-Dailey is only being charged and has not been convicted of any crime. For more information on this story, visit NBC Philadelphia News.
