Oxford University Press has partnered with keyboard-app company, Swiftkey, to provide for us 2015's word of the year - the laughing face emoji. Yes, it's not even a word.

The face with tears of joy, also known as the 'LOL Emoji', or the laughing Emoji, makes up 20% of all emoji used between the United States and the United Kingdom.

Apparently, this emoji is the best representation of our fast paced, Internet and social media influenced society. Luckily, within a press release, Oxford Dictionaries are not planning to add emoji to the dictionary any time soon...thank God.

Granted, I do use this emoji frequently in conversation, and it could, like any word, mean anything.

The word of the year for 2014 was 'vape', but at least it was a word.
