Citing the poor structural condition of the structure, the City of Atlantic City has closed the Ohio Avenue bridge.

According to a press release from the city,

After much consideration and through investigation by City Engineer Russell Cipolla, it has been decided to close the Ohio Avenue Bridge in Venice Park at the Penrose Canal today due to public safety issues. The structural condition of the bridge continues to deteriorate to the point that it exceeds routine repairs. Construction on the site is anticipated to begin in September by a local bridge contractor to be retained by the City.

The City says any local residents with questions can contact the Engineer’s Office at (609) 347-5360.
