Good news for motorists in New Jersey, you're finally seeing prices at the pumps even out a bit.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price for a gallon of regular in New Jersey was $3.49 back on Friday, the same price it was last week. However, that’s still less than the price from a year ago, when you were paying about $3.67.

Meanwhile, the national average rose 8 cents to $3.57. But that’s lower than the national average from a year ago, which was $3.70.

The stable gas prices in New Jersey end a four-week stretch where prices had been on the rise.

“Higher global oil prices and increased demand for gasoline during the busy summer driving season were the primary factors that sent pump prices higher in July,” said John B. Townsend II, AAA Mid-Atlantic’s Manager of Public and Government Affairs. “But the price outlook will become rosier in the days ahead, as the kids return to school in the next few weeks and the summer driving season comes to an end.”
