New Jersey school students may be sleeping in a little longer before class, if later school times are approved.

CBS Philly reports, New Jersey Department of Education officials are holding public meetings to look at the possibility of schools starting later for middle and high school students.

Now, I don't remember having a particular problem waking up early when I was in high school. But, studies show that if school starts an hour later, the extra hour of sleep actually helps students academically.

Also lack of sleep could lead to problems like: car accidents, childhood obesity, poor performance in school, and lack of sleep.

CBS Philly says another recurring argument is that it pushes activities back, which could be inconvenient with parents' schedules.

As of now, New Jersey Department of Education has been receiving dozens of emails in support of school starting an hour later.
